How to Read a Supplement Facts Panel

Capsule deconstruction — WQ Learn
Capsule deconstruction — WQ Learn

TL;DR: The Supplement Facts panel tells you what's actually in the bottle. Read the serving size first, then per-serving amounts, then the "other ingredients" list — and be skeptical of proprietary blends.

Start with the serving size

Every number on the panel is per serving, not per capsule or per container. If the serving is two capsules, one capsule delivers half of everything listed.

Per-serving amounts and % Daily Value

Each active ingredient should show an exact amount (mg, g, mcg). The % Daily Value (%DV) appears where a reference intake exists; many functional ingredients legitimately show no %DV because none has been established.

The proprietary blend problem

A "proprietary blend" discloses only the blend's total weight — not how much of each ingredient you're getting. That makes dose evaluation impossible. WQ products never use proprietary blends: every active ingredient is listed with its exact per-serving amount.

Other ingredients

Capsule material, flow agents and fillers appear here. Shorter is generally better; every excipient should have a job.

Cross-check with the COA

The panel tells you what should be inside; the batch COA shows what a laboratory measured. Look up any WQ lot number on our COA Lookup page, and read how testing works in our Testing Policy.
